Healthfirst Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare Advantage plans offer more than Original Medicare does. And Healthfirst Medicare Advantage plans can give you even more of the benefits you want.

If you qualify for Medicare, congratulations! You can get quality health coverage at an affordable price. But you'll have some important decisions to make, starting with whether you want Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan. There are a lot of differences between the two as you can see in the chart below.

Original Medicare vs Medicare Advantage

criteria Original Medicare (Parts A & B) provides: Medicare Advantage plans (Part C) offer benefits such as:
Coverage for hospitalization, doctors, skilled nursing facility, outpatient care, preventive services
Prescription drug coverage
Dental, vision, and hearing benefits, 24/7 telemedicine, fitness/gym membership, nutritional counseling
Annual maximum out-of-pocket protection

When can you enroll?

Medicare Annual Enrollment Period October 15 - December 7

Here's when you may switch from one Medicare Advantage plan or Medicare Part D plan to another, switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan or vice versa, or enroll in a Medicare Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan for the first time.

During this period, you may switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another, or switch from your Medicare Advantage plan and return to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D plan.

Certain circumstances (such as a move to a new area) may allow you to switch plans during this period.

If you are new to Medicare, your birthday month will determine your initial enrollment period. Plan to enroll by the end of your birthday month or you may have a gap in coverage.

Healthfirst has four-star-rated (out of five stars) Medicare Advantage plans in 2022. Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system.

Healthfirst Health Plan, Inc. offers HMO plans that contract with the Federal Government and has a contract with New York State Medicaid for its Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans. Enrollment in Healthfirst Medicare Plan depends on contract renewal.
